Mr. Herbeck discussed his job as a P.E. teacher and his interests. He has been a P.E teacher for 20 years and likes basketball and tennis baseball. Although he likes hanging out with his twin boys more. Mr. Herbeck is going to try to stay when the 6th graders are in 8th grade.

Panther Press: How long have you been a PE teacher?

Mr. Herbeck: I have been a PE teacher for 20 years.

Press: What was your first year of teaching like?

Mr. Herbeck: It was very hectic.

Press: What is your favorite sport or activity to teach?

Mr. Herbeck: I like teaching basketball and tennis baseball.

Press: What jobs have you worked before as a PE teacher?

Mr. Herbeck: I have been a lifeguard and a fitness director.I was a lifeguard from 15 up till I was 20 then I was a fitness director from 20-22.

Press: Do you have any children?

Mr. Herbeck: I have twin boys who are 9.

Press: What school do they attend?

Mr. Herbeck: Homeville Elementary.

Press: Have you ever subbed for a teacher?

Mr. Herbeck: Yes, many times.I actually sub every week.

Press: Are you planning to retire soon?

Mr. Herbeck: Not yet, I plan on retiring in 14 more years.

I really enjoy teaching sports here in IMS and I would like to retire here.

Emma De Los Santos is a student at IMS. She is from a little bit of everywhere, being Spanish and European. She has 2 siblings by the names Mila and Lukas, who are four and eight years old. Emma and her siblings are originally from Bloomfield, NJ and she moved to Iselin in 2021. She currently owns an Australian shepherd named Milo and 3 cats Cali, Willow, and Athena . She loves all art forms including drawing, writing, and music. Her favorite musical artists are Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo. She loves animals especially reptiles and arachnids. Her hobbies include reading , drawing, listening to music, and hanging out with family and friends. Her favorite sports are soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

Danny L., Reporter

Danny L. and his family do a lot of things and he has a big house. Danny lives with his dad, brother, uncle, aunt, grandmother and grandfather. They like to go on trips and play football and race. His favorite sport is football because it has been his sport since he was 6. Danny goes to school at Iselin Middle School. He likes to play football and play outside. He always goes to the beach and likes to play at the pool and goes to church. He and his brother goes outside and play in the backyards and play football, basketball and soccer. He also loves to play with his dogs. `
