Panther Press: What sport do you play?
Layla: I play softball!
Press: Oh okay! Why did you choose this sport?
Layla: I choose this sport because I always see my mom playing it and I wanted to try it.
Press: Oh that’s nice! What are your future goals for this sport?
Layla: My future goal is to hit at least 3 times every pitch! This means to hit a ball with a bat 3 times.
Press: That’s a nice goal! Does your mom play on a team?
Layla: Yes!
Press: That’s nice! Do you enjoy doing your sport?
Layla: Yes! I enjoy doing this sport because it’s fun and challenging!
Press: Softball seems like a very challenging sport to play! What keeps you motivated?
Layla: I stay motivated by always practicing and playing with friends.
Press: Oh that’s nice! What positions do you play?
Layla: I play 2nd base, 3rd base, and out field because I’m best at those spots!
Press: Nice! What do you enjoy the most about playing your sport?
Layla: Something I enjoy the most about softball is hitting the ball!
Press: Okay! How did you first get involved in softball?
Layla: I first got involved in softball when I started playing with my friends and joining teams!
Press: Interesting! How many teams did you join?
Layla: I joined 5 teams including my school team!
Press: Okay! Did you ever get scared to join new teams?
Layla: Yes, I was scared because I didn’t know if they would be better than me and because I didn’t know if I’d fit in or not!
Press: Oh okay! It’s always scary joining something new. What’s some advice you’d give to people who want to join the sport that have no experience?
Layla: I’d say to not be nervous and keep an eye on the ball!
Press: Thank you for the advice! What are some challenges you’ve faced during your time playing softball?
Layla: Of course! Some challenges I’ve faced are trying to hit really fast pitches!
Press: Yeah, trying to hit a fast ball can be hard to hit sometimes. How’d you overcome that challenge?
Layla: I overcame that challenge by listening to my coaches advise and by keeping my eye on the ball.
Press: That’s a great way to overcome a challenge! What would you say is your biggest inspiration?
Layla: My biggest inspiration would probably be my mom because she is always teaching me more things and I love watching her play!
Press: Your mom sounds like she’s a great player! What would you say is your most memorable moment?
Layla: My most memorable moment would probably be the first time I was up to bat!
Press: That’s nice! Did you always want to do this sport?
Layla: I always wanted to play this sport because when I was younger I used to watch my mom play and that made me want to play!
