Panther Press: What is your main goal for the current season?
Mrs. Malleck: For this team season we will try to win the championships.
Panther Press: Do you focus on any skill or form of running in a particular way?
Mrs. Malleck: To run with good form is the key idea it helps keep up acceleration and builds your endurance.
Panther Press: What steps do you take to make sure athletes in middle school support each other?
Mrs. Malleck: To show respect because that brings positive motivation and respect.
Panther Press: What does your warm-up and cool-down routine look like to prevent injuries?
Mrs. Malleck: To go out to the field and do dynamic stretches and the cool-down is running.
Panther Press: What do your strategies look like and is it important for middle school athletes?
Mrs. Malleck: To start with stretches then go to the gym or Merrill Park to practice as a team and then start the meeting with the players.
Panther Press: How does the head coach help the students improve their speed?
Mrs. Malleck: By building endurance and making them faster throughout the season.
Panther Press: What has been the most unforgettable moment throughout the season with all the students?
Mrs. Malleck: The most unforgettable moment was when we won the boys and girls championship.
Panther Press: How do you help the students with anxiety on
race day?
Mrs. Malleck: Many students have their way of managing race day anxiety and calming themselves down.
Panther Press: How do you define success with middle school athletes?
Mrs. Malleck: Middle school athletes define success when they practice each day and get to love what they do that they enjoy.
Panther Press: What do you do to help Middle School athletes develop both running skills and their love for the sport of cross country?
Mrs. Malleck: We help them to build their love for the sport and their passion for the sport of cross country.
