A teacher who is so calm and collected while having so many loud and noisy students. If that was a teacher that teacher would be, Ms. Samantha Pasqualini, a 25-year-old science teacher who teaches 7th grade for Iselin Middle School.
Ms. Pasqualini has been teaching in IMS for three years and, of course, all stories have a hero. That hero in Ms. Pasqualini’s story is Ms. Cruz. Ms Cruz has helped Ms. Pasqualini a lot through her starting years.
“I have been teaching for about 3 years, well technically this June, I could say I have completed 3 full years of teaching at IMS,” Ms. Pasqualini said.
Being able to ask questions is important.
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions, I remember the first time I started teaching and I would always be afraid to ask Ms. Cruz questions but teachers like Ms. Cruz have helped me through my starting years,” Ms. Pasqualini said.
Ms. Cruz explained how she was able to help.
“We helped her with any questions she had, and anything in terms of the curriculum that we were teaching. So any questions on the curriculum, and lesson planning,” Ms. Cruz said.
The reason why Ms. Pasqualini is very kind instead of being strict is the reason that she puts herself in her students shoes and she gets their perspective of how they want to learn and how much they are willing to do to learn.
“I treat others the way I would want to be treated so I put myself in my students shoes to actually understand what their going through and how they want to be treated,” Ms. Pasqualini said.
The teachers get along really well.
“All the teachers are like family at the end of the day, so we always look out for each other, and we help each other. If you help someone who needs help, they’ll help you back, so we always try to help each other out and work with one another,” Ms. Cruz said.
This explains how Ms. Cruz thinks about Ms. Pasqualini as a family member. That really helped them connect as a group at the very beginning.
And Ms. Pasqualini is very kind to her students as well she treats them with respect and she gives them more than enough time to do their work.
“She is a really amazing teacher since other teachers don’t really give enough time to do our work. She takes extra time out of her class just to give us more time to do our work so we can get a good grade,” Sania Qureshi said.
Sania Qureshi is a 7th grade Iselin middle school student who has Ms Pasqualini as her science teacher
“She helps us with everything we need help with. She doesn’t mind putting what she was doing on hold just so we can get more information or get an answer for our question,” said Qureshi.
