Science with Mrs. Zuber

Science and Chemicals.

Mrs. Zuber is a sixth-grade teacher at Iselin Middle School, where she teaches students in the subject of science. She used to be a math teacher. Additionally, she runs the Chemistry Club here at Iselin Middle School.

Panther Press: Hi, how are you?

Mrs. Zuber: Good.

Press: Why do you like science?

Mrs. Zuber: I don’t just like science; I love science! Because science is fact and it combines my two favorite things: math and the world. I love just learning about the world and learning about curiosity.

Press: What is your favorite field of science?

Mrs. Zuber: Chemistry because there’s something magical about it, bringing two elements together and creating something new.

Press: What is your favorite part of chemistry?

Mrs. Zuber: Showing students how the world around us and everything can react in many different ways.

Press: How do you inspire students?

Mrs. Zuber: Well, it’s not easy to inspire students these days. But what I try to do is encourage curiosity.

Press: Who is your favorite scientist and how do they inspire you?

Mrs. Zuber: My favorite scientist is Marie Curie. She was a chemist. She is the reason why we have cancer treatments today.

Press: What else do you enjoy?

Mrs. Zuber: I like biology. I love teaching kids and learning about DNA and how genes come together to make you who you are.

Press: What are your hobbies?

Mrs. Zuber: I love to play board games with my kids and read murder mysteries.

Press: Congratulations on getting nominated for your new program, Green Ninja! What do you think about it?

Mrs. Zuber: I think it has a lot of good things about it! It encourages students to discover instead of just reading it out of the book.

Press: How did you get the program?

Mrs. Zuber: Our school district is actually trying out our program. They selected certain teachers to do so.

Press: What do you think students can learn from this program?

Mrs. Zuber: I think that they can learn to be independent thinkers.

Press: Do you like the Interactive Science curriculum more, or the Green Ninja, and why?

Mrs. Zuber: They both have pros and cons. But right now, I enjoy Green Ninja.

Press: Would you like to add anything else?

Mrs. Zuber: No, I’m good.

Avish K is a student at IMS. He lives near the market area with his parents and his brother, Anish. Avish grew up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, with his grandparents. It has been 3 years since he came to the USA. While he loves drawing, his favorite thing is to spend time and make great memories with his family. Avish’s hobbies include sports, crafting things out of paper, making sketches, and drawing anime characters like Naruto and Goku. His favorite sports team is India Cricket. Also, he likes soccer, and his idol is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neil Dubey, Reporter

Neil Dubey is a sixth grade student at Iselin Middle School. He is eleven years old. Dubey has spent his entire childhood in New Jersey, along with his parents and older sister. He loves to play golf, as well as mini golf. Dubey enjoys drawing, coloring, and painting animals with paint and colored pencils. In addition, he likes to read Harry Potter books, as well as The Chocolate Touch. Dubey is fond of visiting popular locations in New York. He is fascinated by physics, chemistry, and earth science!

Noaman Faisal, Reporter

Noaman Faisal is a 12 year old male, who goes to IMS. He lives with his family in New Jersey, and was born on October 9, 2012. Faisal was born in Asia, and is very strangely way taller than most 12-year-olds. He has only been going to IMS for a few months now. Most of the time, he also gets a bit over-reactive, and over-sensitive. Some of his hobbies include jumping ropes, don’t judge him, he’s allowed to like whatever he likes. He likes to draw animals, or dinosaurs. He knows a lot about dinosaurs. He knows a lot about dinosaurs and can name them alphabetically. He also has a very wide imagination, and likes playing video games – a lot of video games. His favorite game is probably the new Spiderman one.
