The school of Iselin middle school (IMS) has changed its bells with music.
Mrs. Cilento is the principal of Iselin Middle School. The bell is something the schools use to make the students go to their class on time. This September, the school changed the school bell into sweet tunes. Cilento thought it would be a good idea to replace the bell with music.
“I thought it would be very fun and exciting for the students and teachers within the school, and it’s a great way to expose students to different genres of music,” Cilento said.
Cilento got the idea from a teacher in a different school. They did it for a day and Cilento thought it would be a great idea. So she made Iselin Middle School’s bell change into music.
It shows unique interests by allowing students to delve into the career of an artist who resonates with them personally.
“Introducing my kids to music from my own youth has been a nostalgic journey, full of surprise and delight,” Cilento said. “I love seeing their faces light up at the first notes of a classic song that once defined my teenage years, and it’s especially rewarding when they begin to sing along.”
“I haven’t had a favorite just yet but the beat Doo-wop seem to be exciting because people were dancing,” said Cilento.
Despite my uncertainty about whether the performance is a success by conventional standards, the power of the music is undeniable. The kids are getting completely “upturned” by the sound, swept up in its rhythm and energy.
