Veer Sheledia is a basketball player on the Iselin Middle School team. During the season, he would wake up around 6:30 and go to practice. In the off-season, he practices basketball and hangs out with his friends.
Sheledia started playing basketball because of his brother and how he was inspired by his brother. In some ways, he wants to be like his brother and be as good as he is.
Sheledia’s favorite part of being on the basketball team is the practice and how their chemistry can improve over time. He also likes the extra activities, like shooting from half-court or being the first to make a point win. To him, these are like memories that he will remember forever.
Basketball changed Sheledia.
“Basketball helped me by being healthier, more athletic, and trying to get fit over the off-season,” Sheledia said.
He thought being on the team was fun.
“The team was very competitive playing against other teams and very amazing playing the other teams. It made me a more competitive player,” Sheledia said.
Sheledia’s made some good memories.
“It was the Woodbridge Middle school game. I was going against Woodbridge, and there was a fast break, and I blocked one of the players and he started crying,” Sheledia said.
One of his favorite games of the season was his last game against Fords.
“We just had fun. I didn’t even care about the score. [We] just played for fun,” Sheledia said.
Veer rated the season.
“For my last year of 8th grade, I would rate it a solid 9 out of 10,” he said.
His reason for that is because he had his good and bad moments.
“I had very enjoyable moments and competition. I went against teams it made me better in every way,” Sheledia said.
Sheledia considers basketball a hobby, but he wants to try another thing.
“I don’t play it daily because it’s not my thing. I take photos of the basketball players, you know, that’s my thing,” he said.
In regards to motivation, Sheledia said, “Never give up. Even though it may be hard.”
