Jamie Wanko is a common favorite teacher all throughout Iselin Middle School. Mrs. Wanko is a teacher at Iselin Middle School, NJ. She teaches World History to eighth graders at IMS. Wanko enjoys her job very much and has been teaching for a very long time. Jamie got her first job as a teacher in 2001.
Mrs. Wanko gave some information about her ways and techniques of teaching.
“I try to pay attention to my student’s personalities, and the way they behave before I teach them,” Wanko said.
Mrs. Wanko believes doing this helps evaluate her students and encourage them throughout the school year. Wanko talked about her style of teaching and the techniques she uses to get her students to learn more and faster.
”I enjoy class discussions, reflective thoughts, and artwork,” Wanko said. “[She] thinks it gives the kids a chance to shine.”
Eight-grader, Dhruti Patel claims she thinks Wanko enjoys what she does.
“She is very outgoing and such a fun teacher,” said Patel.
According to many other students, Wanko has a very positive attitude. Mrs.Wanko prefers not to answer if she likes what she does because she claims a real answer will come from her students.
“Do you think I enjoy what I do?” Wanko asked the press.
Alongside her teaching techniques, she has to adjust to some of the major events happening in IMS. Mrs. Wanko discusses her opinion on a recent event called “No Tech January.”
“I think during events like these, you need to keep striving as a teacher and use new and very entertaining teaching techniques,” said Wanko.
One thing Wanko will admit about herself is that she is hardworking. Lastly, balancing a teacher’s life and home life isn’t always easy according to her. After a hard week of teaching, and grading, she goes home to her wonderful husband and kids for a relaxing weekend.
