As the 2024-2025 school year comes to a close, there are various activities that families of students can participate in this summer.
We have collected some information from the students from Iselin Middle School about the things they plan to do during the summer. “I’m going to Egypt,” said Malak, an 8th grader at IMS. “I’m from Egypt and it’s just a yearly vacation that my family goes on, mostly to visit family. I also might go to Cancun. I’ve been there before, and I really liked it, I’m happy that my parents are considering going again.”
Zoeya, another 8th-grade student at IMS, is going to a camp.
“I hope it’ll be fun. My parents brought up the idea and I’m excited to see what it’s like.” Zoeya said she’s happy to be out of school, but sad at the same time, due to the fact that she’s graduating from IMS this month.
The last student interviewed was Ekrame, a 7th grader at IMS.
“My family usually goes to our country, Morocco, during the summer, but this year we decided not to. I’m planning to use this time as an opportunity to go out with my friends. Although I love spending time with my family, our vacations usually last almost the whole summer, so it’s difficult to have time for my friends while we aren’t in school. So I’m somewhat glad that we aren’t visiting this year,” Ekrame said.
Overall, the students seem to all be doing different things. During the summer break, families are not just limited to traveling and sightseeing, which is very common during summer vacation; it is also a time to visit family and friends and reconnect during this long break from school.
