Analise Brown, an 8th-grade softball player at Iselin Middle School, Analise emphasizes on the school softball team and works hard. “I have been playing softball since I was 4-5, so for about 9 years,” Brown said.
Brown believes that stretching would help warm up your body before a game. She also uses praying and trying to stay as calm as possible as a mindful technique.
“I find the praying and staying calm strategy the easiest,” she said. “Praying also does help me feel calm and confident before a game. It brings me a feeling of peace too.” Also, Brown said that making errors is the hardest challenge for her during games, but she tries to learn from her mistakes and move on.
“My coach has taught me never to give up no matter how hard it gets,” she explained. “Getting the feeling of giving up as soon as you make a few mistakes is the hardest, but I try to get into the right mindset and lock in.”
Brown tries to balance school with softball practices and games by doing her homework earlier and staying organized. She tries to start her homework straight after school or during her free time to avoid rushing later. She keeps organized by having a daily schedule and trying to keep her backpack and notebooks tidy so that she won’t waste time looking for things.
Analise says that she loves softball and would like to continue softball in high school. Her goal for high school is to get into varsity softball. She would like to achieve this goal and make it into her dream college. She plays first base and catcher she hopes to pursue this in high school and college.
