As of currently, the stars of the Lakers are LeBron James and Luka Doncic. With Lebron maybe retiring, will Luka be able to face the playoffs alone by himself and get a championship without Lebron in future championships, and how will this happen? What is the plan for them?
The Panther Press asked a fan what they thought about Lebron being absent for 3 out of the first 4 weeks of the season.
“I think that Lebron being out of the season, 3 out of 4 weeks, is a little bad for the Lakers because Luka and Lebron are the Lakers’ star players, and if one of them is out, the other will still do a bit well,” Shama Bhagat said.
The next game the Lakers play is against the Timberwolves, and given their recent performance, they would probably lose. They only won 2 of the 4 games they faced the Timberwolves last season and this season, so Game 2 versus the Timberwolves will probably go to the Timberwolves.
The Panther Press asked a fan, “Do you think the Lakers got better over the offseason?”
“I think with Luka on the team and a lot of training over the summer, the Lakers will be a major part of the NBA, being a threat to teams,” Krish Bhagat said.
The Lakers got better over the offseason by training a lot. They will definitely be a threat to the teams in the NBA. They will get a lot of teams out this season and make it to the playoffs with a steady record. So the Lakers got one of their targets down, which is getting to the playoffs.
The last step they need to do is get to the NBA Finals. If they get to the Finals, some of the teams would probably be the Timberwolves, the Nuggets, with Nikola Jokic, the Spurs with Wemby, or the Warriors with a good team and Curry. If they do face any of these teams, it will be a tough challenge for the Lakers.
The Panther Press asked a Lakers fan, “With Lebron retiring soon, can Luka on the team alone make it to the playoffs or even the championship?”
“I think he will not do better, but I think the team will get worse, not that much worse, since LeBron might be moving to a new team anyway, so they will have more time to adjust to his departure.” Anish Soni said.
That’s what will probably happen to the Lakers during the 2025-2026 NBA season, affecting their future.
