Students try out for sports and eventually want to pursue it as a career. IMS has a variety of students who play sports. Many may want to continue to do so as they go into high school.
Joseph Velasco, a student at IMS, plays soccer and likes his sport very much. Students at IMS have a passion for soccer but many don’t as well.
Velasco said, “If you just want to try it for fun, give it a try. You’ll probably fall in love with the passion. That’s what I did and now it’s part of my career.”
Many people have their reasons for wanting to start a sport.
“Basically, one day I started playing one day when I was like 5 or 4 and I just fell in love with the sport,” Velasco says.
Velasco was young when he started playing just like other students with other sports.
Students deal with stress and have a hard time balancing school and sports.
Velasco tells his opinion on this question of balancing school and sports. Velasco had good reasons why it might be difficult for students to balance school and sports.
Velasco said, “I think maybe yes because mostly about homework and study for a test, exam or finals all that can be difficult for managing like one person and to practice sports as well and time managing in the day and night.”
He said, “Mostly about homework and studying for a test, exam or final.”
Sports may be bad because of all the stress of school work. But playing for a sport has its benefits too.
Velasco said, “I think it’s important because it can help you become more healthy and workout more and if you have time to go to the gym you have time to work for that sport and get more fit.”
Sports also has its ways to benefit at school.
Velasco said, “Depends if you manage both of them at the same time, it can help you work your brain better and focus on more things or take one at a time and just take your time at your own pace.”
Students may not want to try a sport and that’s okay.
Velasco said, “I think so because if you at least try one sport you’re giving yourself a try and having an opportunity for your mind and become a better person.”
Many sports teach kids good lessons.
Velasco said, “Just stay open for your mind and just be yourself and don’t worry about things that pressure you.”
