Ms Belly is a nice history teacher who likes to make kids laugh and also used to teach girls’s basketball. She doesn’t give too much homework and likes to give free, easy grades.
Every Monday in Isilen Middle School, there are two things. There is No Tech Monday and movement Monday. The school year starts with only movement Monday. Many students thought that this would be the only thing on Monday. Student Alexander Stachurski states,
“Tech free Monday is a good idea for kids but many classes such as computers, coding, and G&T could have trouble”
It doesn’t just affect students, it affects teachers also. Teachers now have to print out worksheets and spend their time instead of being able to get digital worksheets from the internet. In journalism class, we never do anything on paper. Students are meant to interview people on computers and ipads. Student Krish Patel thinks,
”I think it is good because I don’t have to carry my computer around.”
Monday can become a hassle with doing a lot of worksheets but it is also positive in many ways. You can get away from technology, work like in the olden days, and you could rest your eyes. Kids could get UN-addicted from always being on computers, phones, and iPad . Student Ahamvarth DHANYA says,
” I don’t like it because we don’t get to use our computers. Also, I do not like to do a lot of worksheets because it adds more work.”
Tech free Monday really helps a lot of kids in many ways. They get to experience how it is to do things the hard way without any computers . It also helps them mentally and physically by taking their mind away from all devices. Plus they stay more active during the day and they have more fun without their phone or chromebooks. Teacher Ms. Belly said,
I understand the concept behind it however some teachers have different lessons and different projects and sometimes that requires technology. I would say that I am more of a no tech Monday person.”
Kids could join activities and sports so they could have fun and be social. Being social in life is needed to make friends as a kid and as an adult. Most kids like No Tech Monday while some don’t. Overall people have mixed answers on No Tech Monday so there is no final answer Teacher Ms. Belly also said,
“I like that it gives the students a chance to not be on their chrome books as screen times have increased over the years and kids are glued to a screen on. What I don’t like about it is that it has to be on a certain day. As long as every teacher does a no tech day, I think that is good enough.
