Julian Mendez is a 7th grader here at Iselin Middle School (IMS). He plays basketball as a starter for the IMS basketball team.
Mendez spends most of his time playing baseball, basketball, and staying after school to spend time with his friends.
Mendez has been playing sports for mainly his whole life.
Mendez’s love for sports started ever since he was a little boy because he always believed that he could be the best basketball player in the world.
Mendez believes that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and also if you have faith in God.
Mendez said, “ Him playing sports makes him the happiest but he is worried if he gets an injury and it’s life threatening.”
Some things Mendez wants to work on before 2027 are getting better grades, making his parents proud and being more healthy with his diet.
His personal values are spending time with family, God, and friends.
Mendez says the one thing he wants to do is grow his connection with God and not sin as much.
He said, “I just love being around my family and friends because it just makes me so happy.”
