Laura Baldesweiler started her first teaching job in IMS since 2011. Baldesweiler is a Language Arts teacher in Iselin Middle school and she became a teacher because it was always something she was interested in.
This interest grew overtime when she started forcing her cousins to play school with her and when she did she knew that she was going to become a teacher when she grew up.
Baldesweiler always wanted to be a teacher since she was in elementary school.
When we asked her if she wanted a different career in life she said she always wanted to become a teacher in either journalism, Creative Writing, or Language arts.
If students are struggling, Ms.Baldesweiler thinks that they should reach out to a teacher because sometimes teachers can’t tell if their students are actually struggling or if they just don’t care.
“I take a deep breath and think about if they have any issues and give them a warning or send an email to Ms. Cilento, and it does cause stress so a way of calming down is that I hang out with my cats and play the switch,” Baldesweiler said.
A suggestion Baldesweiler gave was to read because reading can help you get better at analyzing things and writing naturally.
A teacher who inspired her to become a teacher was her creative writing teacher who was a really big influence on her.
Things he did that inspired her was that he cared about his students and she said you can tell that he loved his job, but he also joked sarcastically and was really funny.
”On challenging days, I try to take a beat and remember that kids and adults can have bad days. I try to put myself in your shoes and remember what it was like to be 12 or 13! And if that doesn’t work … A snack or a giant coffee usually helps,”Baldsweiler said.
