Ms. DiLonardo is a middle school English teacher at IMS (Iselin middle school). Students from DiLonardo’s class wonder if she thinks of them as sweet innocent students who do her work. But now it’s time to find out what she really thinks.
Mrs. DiLonardo wants all of her students to succeed but most of the time, she finds that the students who are failing don’t complete their assignments, for example, journal entries which impact their grades a lot. This is done so Mrs. DiLonardo knows who does their journal entries.
Mrs. DiLonardo does try to help her students to improve with both of their writing and reading skills through various units and activities that help them use their knowledge and from students. In that case she does care about her students and that she tries her best to help them and not being the guide to solve every problem.
Mrs. DiLonardo wouldn’t think of her students ‘annoying’ but only to realize that her 8th grade students have “personality” that are shown in class. But her main focus is that all students are respectful to her and classmates through actions and words.
But surprisingly throughout the years of her teaching in IMS, Mrs. DiLonardo never had at least one student who didn’t do their work. Guessing that she would have one a max throughout the years.
DiLonardo thinks her students do work hard.
DiLonardo said, “I think that students who are passing have put in a lot of effort to score high grades on my assignments and follow all my specific guidelines to get the best results.”
So she does help out her students.
For some reason, Mrs. DiLonardo hasn’t gotten mad at her students for not liking the work she gives out.
She said, “Overall, I assign more writing homework than other teachers so many students complain about writing 2 pages for journal entries. However, over the course of the year, many realize why I assign writing work to help them build their writing stamina and explore various prompts.”
So that probably she has a calm personality and that she doesn’t get that mad at her students most of the time.
But what does she think about a student who hasn’t turned in homework? Mrs. DiLonardo would try to give all of her students enough time to finish the homework and to get a late grade before the marking period ends and new work that will make them have to catch up. So in that case, that student was able to finish and turn it in as a late grade.
Surprisingly she doesn’t have any student or class that isn’t her favorite, however she genuinely likes students who actually laugh at her corny jokes. And that was confusing since she always tells her non-honors class that she likes the honor students more than the non-honors class.
Last, what book does Mrs. DiLonardo think was the most engaging to her students?
Mrs. DiLonardo said, “I think the most engaging books have been ‘The Outsiders’ and ‘Ghost’ because both texts are favorites among my students due to their memorable characters and lessons.’
