Mrs. Chiera is the Math teacher of Iselin Middle School (IMS). She teaches 7 & 8 grade math. Most of the students in her class do well because of her teaching style.
Mrs. Chiera spends time helping students with math problems they don’t know. She gives the students solutions of how to do them. After they are done with the assignment, she will explain it again so that the students can understand and remember it.
Mrs. Chiera has been teaching math at Iselin Middle School for 21 years. She started teaching math at Iselin Middle School because,“I think math is important in life for everything.”
Her love for teaching math was discovered when she was learning math at college. She loved to learn math because she wants to deal with stuff that’s hard in the future. She said that it’s easy to learn math if you think that it is possible.
During Mrs. Chiera’s first day of teaching, she felt overwhelmed and confused of where to go, but over time she got used to it and took control of it.
She said that never underestimate anyone in anything.
“Sometimes students are smart in some things and not in the others,” she said.
When she sees anyone fail a test she gets shocked. She calls them to her desk and says next time put some effort in the test and try your best.
She said that students should always learn from their mistakes. She always said that after passing another test you finally learned from your mistakes and you become satisfied. “It will be the best thing you have learned from,” Mrs. Chiera said.
“The best way to reach your goals is to learn from your mistakes and be better now that you have the last time,” Mrs. Chiera said.
Mrs. Chiera loves being an Iselin Middle School math teacher.
“I am grateful for being an Iselin Middle School math teacher, because I spend lots of time teaching my students math,” she said.
