Mrs. Roe works on the child study team and she is a school psychologist at Iselin Middle School (IMS).
Mrs. Roe started working in Woodridge in 2015. She loves working with the children and trying to help kids to meet their full potential. She really loves everybody at Iselin Middle.
“Everyone is so nice and very kind and supportive,” she said.
Mrs. Roe wanted to be a special education teacher for a little while. At first she went to a school just for that, but then she really liked psychology, talking to people, and trying to help them.
She enjoys working here.”I do enjoy working here very much.” She started working on a child study team so that’s what her job is where she helps kids.
“I’m on the child study team so that’s what this job is. We help kids to get the proper support for their education. But before this I worked at an elementary school,” she said.
She does work with kids and kind of counsels them at times, but she also does academic testing, and she tries to find the appropriate classes and the appropriate placement for students.
Mrs. Roe feels like her job is very important. She thinks it’s really hard sometimes when parents might disagree with what the school feels is the best way to support a child. She also thinks hard if a child is having a really difficult time with behaviors or emotions and trying to know. And help them to feel better and feel supported.
She wanted to be a special education teacher for a little while. So at first she was going to school for that but then she really liked psychology and talking to people. And trying to help them. So, then she went in that direction instead.
“I mean sometimes it can be a little bit stressful, but most days, I just really enjoy my job,” she said.
