Mrs. Malleck has been a 6th grade teacher at IMS for 6 years. She is an amazing gym teacher and knows how to work with students. When she was in high school she was all about sports and always participated in any sports she was offered in high school. Today I asked Mrs. Mallek what it is like being a gym teacher.
Panther Press: How long have you been a gym teacher at IMS?
Mrs. Malleck: I’ve been at IMS now for 6 years.
Panther Press: What activities do you like the most to organize?
Mrs. Malleck: I like to organize when we are outside doing tennis, baseball, soccer.
Panther Press: Which one is your favorite?
Mrs. Malleck: My favorite is when it is warm and we are out in the baseball field.
Panther Press: Is organizing activities stressful for the students?
Mrs. Malleck: It’s not too stressful , it only gets stressful when the students don’t listen.
Panther Press: Who would help you more to help plan activities?
Mrs. Malleck: Everybody in the department helps together.
Panther Press: If you were a student would you like to join in the activities?
Mrs. Mallek:Yes if i was a student i would join in the activities when I was in high school I always participated in all the activities.
Panther Press: How do you help kids that are not good at sports feel included ?
Mrs. Malleck: The students that are not good at sports we would teach them the skills they need for example we would teach them how to shoot a basketball, give them a smaller basketball and give them different equipment.
Panther Press: What is the silliest or funniest thing that happened in your gym class?
Mrs. Malleck: This year when Estela joined our class. Every time Estela is in our class it is funny.
