Sashwin Loganathan is a 8th grade student at Iselin Middle school who maintains straight A’s and has many academic achievements like being a part of the Honor Society and G&T Program.
Loganathan is a role model for a student, always participating in class and maintaining good grades. But how does he do it?
“I want to stay focused on my grades,” Loganathan said.
Loganathan’s favorite class is science with Mr. Vizian. He likes this class because he thinks Mr. Vizian is welcoming and energetic.
“He’s such a funny guy,” Loganathan stated. He also enjoys being with his friends like Shaan and Angel.
Loganathan feels like he has improved in school since the 6th grade. He feels this way because he’s more used to the school environment and his grades have drastically improved.
“I definitely got better in ELA, almost scoring a perfect score on the NJSLA,” he said.
Loganthan is an amazing student but still has many distractions. He states his siblings such as his sister caused many disruptions to his studies. He copes with the issue by locking his door, or listening to music to block out her voice.
Loganathan’s academic achievements show that studying pays off. He spends a lot of his free time studying new material, and whatever he’s learning in class so he is always on top of what he’s learning.
Loganathan thrives in many subjects, but he says he lacks focus in his Honors Language Arts class. “My teacher assigns [a lot of] work and it’s hard to stay focused,” he said.
Loganathan procrastinates a lot in class, but to make up for his unfocused time he does his work at his home where he claims it’s easier to focus. He prefers quiet and can’t focus when someone is giving him instructions and rather does work on his own.
The quote he took through his life is “Life isn’t about avoiding thunderstorms, it’s about dancing in the rain,” Loganathan says.
